5th the new 4th?

How "anti-American" are public schools? Five youths were told to take off their shirts or risk suspension for wearing American flags on Cinco de Mayo day. School administrators claimed the flags disrespected Mexicans and incited violence.
"I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day," Annicia Nunez, a Live Oak High student, said. "We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."
As for an apology, the boys and their families say, "fat chance."
"I'm not going to apologize. I did nothing wrong," Galli said. "I went along with my normal day. I might have worn an American flag, but I'm an American and I'm proud to be an American."
The American school system – run by liberal elitists, socialists and, more often than not, "useful idiots" (as Marx called them) – has effectively overthrown American culture, first turning our children against God, then capitalism, and now even America herself.

EDIT: Of course, you knew this was coming. The next step will be to ban the American flag altogether -- in the name of "liberty and justice for all".

  1. Why Should you be punished for showing pride in your country, your home? It is absurd and ignorant to think such an act of innocence and make wearing american flags a crime in this situation. How dare they! America is the greatest country in the world and the corrupted officials and authorities blow matters out of proportion. As an American Citizen I proclaim the acts and justifications on this to be unconstitutional. It violates our Natural Right to express ourselves, have pride in our country, and being able to exercise our individual personality and pursuit of happiness.- Bryan Suarez

  2. Imagine if an American kid attended a Mexican school on the 4th of July and DEMANDED that all Mexican students STOP wearing symbols of Mexico's flag. It's absurd! They'd tell the gringo to get the hell out of Mexico!

BTW, I thought these Hispanic kids were AMERICANS? Why would they possibly be offended by FELLOW AMERICANS wearing AMERICA'S flag?!

Truth is, racist "race studies", "hyphenated-Americans", and "multi-cultural" crap are designed, not to bring us together, but to tear us apart as a nation.

  3. Threatening to expel students for just wearing an American flag shirt is incredibly stupid. Although i wouldn't blame the socialists for it. It's that ridiculous political correctness that's "pussified" Americans into thinking that wearing an American flag shirt on Cinco de Mayo is a hate crime. Easy were you point fingers Mr. Carter, I'm pretty sure liberal elitists didn't possess school administrators into expelling these kids.

  4. Different from all the comments you have gotten so far, i believe that it might not had been the best or smartest choice for the students to take such action. Mostly because i think, in fact do not doubt that these students planned all this.BEFORE DOING SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO THINK OF THE CONSEQUENCES.I am a mexican/american and i was not offended.....however there are people who are. There is a limit and these students did not see it.

  5. So, Jocelyn, what possible "limit" could these boys have crossed by WEARING THE FLAG OF THEIR OWN COUNTRY in THEIR OWN COUNTRY? And who would be offended? Another AMERICAN?

If a non-American were offended by AMERICANS wearing AMERICAN flags, who cares?! And WHAT THE HECK are non-Americans doing in American schools anyway?! If they don't like it, LEAVE!

Of course these guys "planned" what they did. (I almost wore an American flag myself on May 5th. Had I realized it was "Cinco de Mayo" I most certainly would have!) Stupid me! How could I forget the lone victory of a foreign power that was ultimately vanquished by an invading hord?

I mean, really, isn't USA's predicament just another retelling of the "Cinco de Mayo" story, only modern Americans are the Mexican army in Puebla and modern Mexicans are the invading French? Heck, the U.S. even is bound to renege on its foreign debts, just like Mexico did! Uncanny!

Who do you think's going to win this one? (I wouldn't bet against the "French" this time, either.)

  6. So, I see you are not going to "plead the fifth" on this one next year.

  7. Well it's just that these officials wanted Cinco de Mayo to be the ultimate Mexican day. Wearing something 'non-Mexican' was like a sin. Even though it is virtually ignored in Mexico, the US makes a big deal about it. I'm Mexican, and well.. it's another day to me.

But just think. If France had won, we'd all be eating croissants instead of tacos! I hate these racial things, but sadly, they will continue, just like the sun will continue to rise.

Agh, not everyone celebrates this holiday, and not everyone must acknowledge it! AND WHO WOULD BE OFFENDED BY THIS!?

  10. I'm a Mexican. I was born in Mexicali and i love celebrating the Cinco the Mayo day because it represents where i come from. Even thought we're from another place we're given the freedom of celebrating because we have a different culture, even though where we live is different. I think that the teacher had no right to suspend the student for representing their country. The teacher should be grateful to have been given the freedom to celebrate that day wearing her flag. And no student should feel offended anyway because theyre living with the American flag NOW and we celebrate American holidays too. By the way, my name is Leslye Marting. Im in your 3rd period class. :)
